Turnout was heavy for the Lexington 2 School District’s Teacher Recruitment Fair, Saturday. Dr. Angela Cooper, Lexington 2’s Chief Human Resource Officer, said interest in the district his high based on the numbers at the recruitment fair.

More than 250 pre-registered, and some teacher candidates came that were not pre-registered. Kevin Smoak, Lexington 2’s teacher recruiting coordinator, said those who missed the fair can still go to www.Lex2.org and apply to teach in Lexington 2.

The district offers signing bonuses. The fair was at Brookland-Cayce High school. Cooper said last week that the district- and many others- are facing a shortage of qualified teachers.
