The Lexington School District Two administration has sent a recorded message to parents in the wake of former Airport High School Assistant Principal Dawn Diimmler’s arrest.

Diimmler 44, allegedly had sex with a 19-year-old student at the school last spring. She was arrested Saturday by the Cayce Public Safety Department, and is in the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a 10 a.m. Monday, bond hearing.

The message says administrators know that teachers, students, staff and families are struggling and looking for answers. It also says that South Carolina law prevents them discussing the case with the investigation ongoing.

The message says the incident is devastating, but Airport High School will endure and thrive, and it’s important to support each other more than ever.

There will be extra counselors on hand Monday at the school and administrators will be on campus at times during the week.

C.R. Hall is standing in for AHS Principal Brad Coleman, who is on administrative leave. Her door is open always, says the message, as is the door of Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. William James.

The message also says the school will do everything in its power to support the education of children.
