Due to forecasts of high winds and possible storms Monday afternoon that could make bus travel hazardous, Lexington Two schools will dismiss students one hour early on Monday, August 7.
Dismissal times will be 1:30 p.m. for elementary schools, and 2:30 p.m. dismissal for middle and high schools.
All afternoon and evening activities are canceled for Monday, including athletic events, extracurricular activities, after-school programs and adult education classes.
The latest National Weather Service forecast includes the possibility of severe thunderstorms and winds of up to 70 miles per hour, which can produce travel conditions that will likely exceed the SC Department of Education’s safe school bus operation guidelines.
The decision for an early dismissal this afternoon was made in consultation with local, school and county officials on weather forecasts. The district will continue to monitor weather conditions and will communicate with Lexington Two stakeholders should any further updates be necessary.
