Re: Schools and Offices Closed on Tuesday, October 1, Reopening Wednesday, October 2 on a Two-Hour Delayed Start
Lexington Two is canceling school for all students and employees on Tuesday, October 1, due to ongoing impacts from Helene. All schools and offices will be closed Tuesday, with no extracurricular activities, sports events, childcare programs, or adult education classes.
On Wednesday, October 2, Lexington Two schools and offices will reopen on a two-hour delayed start. The delayed start will ensure better daylight for safer road travel. Students and staff should report to their schools two hours after the normal start time. During morning runs, buses will operate two hours later than their normal operation times, and car riders also should plan to arrive at school two hours later. Classes will start two hours later than the normal schedule, but will dismiss at the normal time. Students in 3K half-day child development classes will not meet.
On Tuesday, October 1, we will once again offer free pickup lunch meals between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pine Ridge Middle School, Cayce Elementary School, and Riverbank Elementary School. Any youth ages 18 and under can pick up a free meal, and you do not have to be a student at one of those schools to receive one. Questions? Call (803) 739-8381.
Lexington Two employees and district families continue to be affected by power outages, home damage, as well as downed trees and power lines that are hindering travel within neighborhoods and along secondary roads and commute routes. Some families are part of voluntary evacuations due to rising river levels.
We will continue to monitor Helene’s impacts in our communities. Should any additional schedule changes be necessary, we will contact you through the district’s communications systems, district/school websites, district/school social media, and local media.
