Lexington 2 schools mark Earth Day with special activities

Lexington Two schools marked Earth Day on Thursday with a number of activities spanning math, science, art, and other subjects. West Columbia Public Works Director Jamie Hook spoke to Riverbank Elementary students about the City of West Columbia’s Recycling program. It is designed to decrease the amount of waste put into landfills by reusing plastics and cardboard products.

At Busbee Creative Arts Academy, students planted tree seedlings as part of Power Plant SC; painted art celebrating how trees and lungs work together; calculated their carbon footprints; and created bird feeders with peanut butter and seeds.
