Lexington 2 Performing Arts Center-District Office site moved to Platt Springs Road in Springdale – See renderings
The site for Lexington Two’s Performing Arts Center and District Office has moved to Springdale.
The initial plan was to build the $60 million performing arts center and district office in Cayce at 12th Street Extension and Saxe Gotha Road, adjacent to Dominion Energy’s offices, near the I-77 Exit.
The new plan puts the two-story facility on Platt Springs Road in Springdale.
Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. Nicolas Wade said the goal is to have a centralized facility for all of the surrounding communities of the district.
The Lexington Two Board viewed preliminary design plans, Thursday, presented by Jumper Carter Sease Architects.
There are some changes with the move of the location. Now the PAC will have only two levels in the auditorium instead of three. One balcony was eliminated. The auditorium will seat 1,550 instead of 2,000.
The building will have four multi-purpose “break-out” rooms to accommodate 300-person groups in each. Wade said the flexibility of the space would allow the district to host conferences and other events. The site will contain 600 parking spaces.
Wade said if the current timeline holds, a groundbreaking ceremony could be planned for the first week in December.
