Lexington 2 extends virtual- only classes ’til after Jan. 15

The Lexington Two School District will continue virtual-only classes until Jan. 15, after the MLK student holiday.

Students who have opted to attend in-person classes will attend school five days a week, in-person after Jan. 15.

Virtual-only classes were extended as a precautionary measure, the district said, because of a reported surge of COVID-19 cases in students and staff following the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Lexington Two Board met for a special meeting, Monday. At that meeting, the Board extended the Families First Coronavirus Response Act until March 31.

The district’s previous FFCRA having expired on December 31.
Under the FFRCA:

  1. Employees who are close contacts related to COVID-19 and able to work are allowed to work from home following set expectations from the superintendent.
  2. Employees who are positive with COVID-19 or a close contact related to COVID-19 will receive 100% of their salary and benefits, without using leave, for up to 10 days.
  3. Employees who are positive with COVID-19 or a close contact related to COVID-19 for a second or additional period within the 2020-21 school year will receive 2/3 of their salary and benefits. Leave may be used to supplement and receive 100% of their salary.
