Leadership Lexington seeking donations for Scooter Scott Project

Leadership Lexington County Class of 2018 is seeking the donations of local businesses and others to achieve the goal of providing priceless items for the Scooter Scott Project.

A GoFundMe account (https://www.gofundme.com/ScooterScott) has been established to help acquire the needed donations in a secure way.

The Leadership Lexington County Class of 2018 has selected the Scooter Scott Project, a faith-based organization that assists Lexington County kids in middle and high school become leaders within their community. The Scooter Scott Project also helps students obtain their GED, teaches students life skills, and takes them to events throughout the year.

The 37-member LLC class has volunteered in several ways that have directly assisted the mission of the Scooter Scott Project, such as neighborhood clean-ups, life-skills coaching, mentoring, tutoring and fundraising.

The main objective of the LLC class is to provide a Jacob’s Law Bus to the Scooter Scott Project in which students can be easily transported to events, classes, and after-school programs. LLC is also aiming to raise enough funds to provide 12 new-age laptops and a curated website for the Scooter Scott Project, so that students can develop highly-sought after computer skills, develop resumes, and work to achieve their GEDs.

In an effort to better the community in which they live, work, and serve, Leadership Lexington County is a non-profit educational organization that offers a stimulating program design to develop leaders within Lexington County.

Made up of local professionals from wide-ranging career paths and industries, Leadership Lexington County participants select a charitable or non-profit organization each year and volunteer their time for the betterment of the organization.

LLC is also accepting in-kind donations such as laptops or discounts with vendors that may be able and willing to assist the mission of the Scooter Scott Project.

Together, we can ensure that the future of students and young adults in Lexington County are afforded the opportunity to solidify their future and become the County’s leaders of tomorrow!

In 2007 Scooter Scott (deceased)  -affiliated with Christ Central Ministries, Inc.  – launched the Nehemiah Project, which helps more than 1,000 families in Lexington County through various ministries. The programs that Scooter started were the Nehemiah after school program for students at risk of dropping out and the Nehemiah GED program for those adults, young and old, wanting to better their families lives. Through a totally volunteer, Christ centered, relationship based and research minded approach, partnered with like minded individuals in education, business, government and the faith-based community, lives were touched
