Last summer tour of 12,000 Year History Park held in Cayce

A  group of people, on Saturday,  took the last guided tour of the summer of Cayce’s 12,000 Year History Park, in Cayce. There will be “a little break” in the tours and the next guided tour is scheduled for Sept. 22. Mark your calendars for 10 am. and 1 p.m. The full fall schedule will be posted soon.

The City of Cayce offers Guided Historical Walking Tours of Fort Congaree at the 12,000 Year History Park on Congaree Creek.  The 12,000 Year History Park is at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce.

Tours are 60-to-90 minutes long, focusing on local history.

National Park trained volunteers Gary and Sue Kelly conducted the tours of Fort Congaree. They relate stories connected to the site. Gary and Sue bring items of interest that replicate some of the things used during the period. Tours are interactive and comments and questions are welcome.

The Civil War Battle of Congaree Creek is included in two of the four tours.
