The Kirkin on the River took place at the West Columbia Riverwalk, Sunday. It was the church service following Tartan Day South that was held Saturday. The Rev. Gary Bainton delivered the message. It was was about the woman at the well, who met Jesus. With the sound of the fast-moving river behind him, Bainton spoke of how water brings us together. There was also bagpipe music from members of the Palmetto Pipes and Drums ensemble. John Banks, director the Cayce-West Columbia Visitors Center, said the service was held in West Columbia in appreciation of the city’s support. The River Alliance also sponsored the event.
