WLTX-TV Channel 19 came out to Meeting Street in West Columbia Saturday for a test run of the derby cars for Kinetic Derby Day.

Mark Plessinger of Frame of Mind Eyewear on State Street helped demonstrate the Kinetic Derby car process.  West Columbia City Councilman Tem Miles also took a test run in a modified garbage receptacle, constructed by Public Works Director Jamie Hook.

The City of West Columbia will host the 1st Annual Kinetic Derby Day on Saturday, April 21. This unique celebration will include a parade of kinetic sculptures (human-powered, handmade floats that highlight the community’s pride and creativity).
