The Cayce Police Department apprehended and arrested a juvenile Friday afternoon after receiving a call that gunshots were fired inside of a home on Sunnyside Drive. The call came in to Cayce PD at approximately 3 p.m.

The juvenile allegedly shot and killed his grandfather and shot at his grandmother. While she was not struck by the gunfire, she was still injured by the juvenile and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at an area hospital.

The juvenile in this isolated incident is being charged with Murder, Attempted Murder and Use of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

This investigation is ongoing. No cause has been finalized as Cayce PD officers continue to investigate. Given the age of the offender, the matter will be adjudicated through the Family Court system and the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. No further information will be released in the juvenile case at this time.
