Irmo Mayor Barry Walker announced, in an email, Wednesday that this year’s Irmo Okra Strut has been cancelled.

It was scheduled for Sept. 25 and 26. The annually scheduled event has been rescheduled for 2021. This year would have been the Okra Strut’s 47th year.

Planners were hoping that some version of the event could be held.

The festival draws about 25,000 visitors a year. Planning for the 2021 Okra Strut festival will begin in December 2020. (Irmo Okra Strut Facebook photo)
