Irmo Fire District units work fires locally and in Horry County
A crew from the Irmo Fire District was on the scene of a vegetation fire near I-26 at Mile Marker 107, Monday morning. Crews also responded to several car accidents and three structure fires. And Irmo Fire District Engine No. 174 and a crew were deployed to help fight a large fire in Horry County.
Later in the day, IFD crews were back out at Interstate 26, Mile Marker 107, for a second vegetation fire, that “ran up a tall tree.” A crew cut the tree down to get to the burning limbs.
A statement in the IFD Facebook page reads: “We have not had much rain so the vegetation is very dry. Add low humidity and a little bit of wind like we have today and we still have a high wildland fire risk. The state remains under a statewide burn ban, which means no outside fires are permitted.”
