Irmo Fire crews, with firefighters from West Columbia, Lexington County, and Columbia put out fire on St. Andrews Road early Friday
Irmo Fire District crews, along with firefighters from the West Columbia, Lexington County and City of Columbia fire departments, fought a stubborn structure fire in an abandoned restaurant at St Andrew’s Road and Woodland Hills Road, early Friday morning.
The fire was reported just before midnight. First arriving crews found heavy fire throughout the building that had extended to the vegetation outside. Due to the volume of fire and concerns about the structural integrity of the building crews initially fought the fire from the exterior. Once the bulk of the flames had been extinguished crews were able to go inside and finish putting out the fire, according to an Irmo Fire report.
As of 1:30 a.m. the fire was under control, resources will remain on scene searching for hot spots and ensuring that the fire is completely out.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. IFD photos
