Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle, Tuesday. The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on U.S. 178 near Batesburg-Leesville.

According to Fisher, Ryan Kneece, 27, of Batesburg was walking in the road when he was struck by a 2007 Ford van.

Kneece was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained on impact. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday. Following their investigation, the South Carolina Highway Patrol released a statement that the driver, who was not injured in the collision, and will not face charges because Kneece was in the road.
