Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) along with the House of Raeford Farms Inc., FLOCK program held a “Blessing of the Bus” Friday. The bus is a “Mobile Food Pantry.”
LICS serves 4,800 people-year in its Food For Living (FFL) program. The FFL program provides food on a monthly basis for the elderly, veterans, the disabled, and their families. The Mobile Food Pantry bus is being used for that ministry.

Chuck Underhill, who oversees House of Raeford’s FLOCK ministry, also spoke at the bus blessing.
“To whom much is given, much is required,” Underhill said, quoting from the Bible. The blessing of the bus was delivered, in prayer, by Pastor Patty Sue Burton-Pye.
The food bus will deliver food to local churches in Lexington County where LICS’s Food For Living (FFL monthly food clients) are. The bus deliveries allow clients, who rely on the food, to save time and the expense of a long trip.
The Mobile Food Pantry launches Monday. Its first stop is Holland Avenue Baptist Church, 801 12th Street, Cayce. The bus will also serve the communities of: West Columbia, Batesburg-Leesville, Swansea, and Gilbert.
House of Raeford Farms Inc., FLOCK program made a $25,000 contribution to Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) to provide funding for the purchase of the mobile food pantry. The contribution, in conjunction with other funds, allowed for the purchase of the bus. The bus enables the ministry to deliver non-perishable food, fresh produce, and eventually, meat, to individuals and families served through the FFL program. The House of Raeford plant is in West Columbia.
