Precincts to vote in the special election for House Dist. 88 are open Tuesday (Dec. 23) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
House District 88 covers the southern part of the Town of Lexington and includes the Red Bank, South Congaree-West Columbia area.

Republican John Lastinger is facing. Democrat Chuck Hightower. Lastinger is a pastor. He won the GOP primary for the seat on Nov. 4 with 52 percent of the vote. Hightower, a Democrat, a 30-year in Army Veteran, did not have a primary challenger.

The winner of this special election will serve the remainder of the term of RJ May that ends in November of 2026, when another election will be held.
