Precincts to vote in the special election for House Dist. 88 are open Tuesday (Dec. 23) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
House District 88 covers the southern part of the Town of Lexington and includes the Red Bank, South Congaree-West Columbia area.

Republican John Lastinger is facing Democrat Chuck Hightower. Lastinger is a pastor. He won the GOP primary for the seat on Nov. 4 with 52 percent of the vote. Hightower, a Democrat, a 30-year Army Veteran, did not have a primary challenger.

The winner of this special election will serve the remainder of the term of former Rep. RJ May that ends in November of 2026, when another election will be held.
