At approximately 9:15 a.m., Thursday, the Cayce Department of Public Safety received a call regarding a strong smell of gas near the Cayce Masonic Lodge.

Cayce Public Safety officers are on the scene. Seven homes around the perimeter of the Lodge have been evacuated. The source of the leak is unknown at this time.

ROAD CLOSURES: 12th Street from Naples Avenue to Walter Price Road, Holland Ave down Poplar Street and all sides streets within a one block radius are closed. Please find an alternate route.

While the gas to the building has been turned off, we are asking that people avoid the 1 block radius near the Lodge. As soon as the area is secured and safe for the public to return, another statement will be released.
