Head-on crash in Lexington results in injuries, driver arrested on drug charges

The Lexington Police Department and EMS were on the scene of a head-on collision Sunday on Augusta Road (US-1) near Cedarcrest Drive. The crash resulted in the road being closed. Drivers were asked to seek an alternate route until the wreckage was cleared from the road.

Three people were transported by EMS from the scene to the hospital.

The crash was caused by a driver who left the inbound lane and struck an outbound vehicle head on.

The at-fault driver was believed to be intoxicated and officers found illegal narcotics in the vehicle. He was transported from the scene by EMS to the hospital and charged with providing false information, failure to obey for running from officers, and drug charges.
