Hayden Thomas, former Brookland-Cayce High School baseball player, earns rookie award at College of Charleston

Former Brookland-Cayce High School Baseball star and now College of Charleston Freshman Hayden Thomas picked up a Coastal Athletic Association co-rookie of the week award last week.

Thomas picked up his first career win and save against William & Mary, allowing only two hits while striking out nine in 4.1 innings. In the series opener Hayden worked the seventh and eighth innings and struck out four, earning the win when the Cougars broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the eighth.

Two days later, Hayden came in with two on and two out in the seventh and ended the threat with a strikeout. He struck out the side in the eighth and finished to preserve a 3-0 win. He has a 2.02 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 26.2 innings on the year.
