Gray wins, Brookland-Cayce falls in football playoffs
Gray Collegiate defeated St. Joseph’s Catholic School, 47-22, Friday in the first round of the state high school football playoffs. (Image is from Gray-Saluda earlier this season)
With the win the War Eagles remain undefeated at 7-0. The game was played at the Midlands Sports Complex in Pine Ridge.
Gray running back KZ Adams scored four TD s for Gray.
Gray Collegiate takes on Christ Church in the second round. That game will also be at the Midlands Sports Complex in Pine Ridge.
Camden 52, Brookland-Cayce 44
Brookland-Cayce got behind Camden early and trailed by a score of 25-7 at halftime. The Bearcats were down by as many as 25 points before roaring back to within eight points late in the game. But the disadvantage of the road game was too much to overcome in the end.
BC Running back Will Way rushed for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. BC quarterback Tanner Staton rushed for two TDs and threw for another TD.
