Gray Collegiate QB Hunter Helms, Columbia Touchdown Club Player of The Year
Gray Collegiate QB Hunter Helms was recognized Thursday at the Columbia Touchdown Club luncheon as the Midlands’ Football Player of The Year.
He was the only Midlands player selected multiple times by the State Newspaper readers as the Player of the Week. Helms won that distinction four times in 2019 during the ten game regular season.
Through 13 games this year Helms is 234/305 77 percent completion rate (#1 Nationally.)He finished his senior season 10-3, 4-0 in Region, with 4,126 yards passing and 48 TD’s, and just 5 INT’s. He passed for 9,129 and 98 TD’s in his 3-year varsity career. He was selected to the North-South All Star game and the Carolina Bowl. Helms is down to Clemson and Michigan for his college choices.
He is 3-time All-State, and 2-time Region Champs, 2-time Region Player of the Year, 2-time leading passer in State, currently ranked #4 Nationally in Passing, and has the #1 Highest QB Rating in the country with a QBR:150.
