The new 1,500-seat basketball arena aka “The War Zone” was opened on the campus of Gray Collegiate Academy, Friday night. Several dignitaries, along with school officials, turned out for the occasion at the West Columbia school.

In the first games in the new site, Gray swept Fairfield Central. The Gray girls won, 56-37. The GCA boys won, 81-41. Brandon Wallace coaches the Gray girls and and the boys coach is Dion Bethea.

Ground was broken for the arena last year. Gray also has a new football/soccer facility on campus.
