Governor declares state of emergency, calls out S.C. National Guard

ngimage001-300x200Gov. Nikki Haley has declared a state of emergency. The state of emergency was declared Thursday night because of expected flooding and from the impact of Hurricane Joaquin.
Haley also ordered the S.C. National Guard to coordinate with the S.C. Emergency Management Division to take action to aid the people of the state subject to emergency conditions.
The declaration instructs local and state officials to prepare for the results of heavy rain and flash flooding.
Flooding is expected from Hurricane Joaquin according to the S.C. Emergency Management Division.
Haley also ordered the state National Guard to coordinate with the S.C. Emergency Management Division to take action to help S.C. citizens.
