Gov. Henry McMaster working on plan to reopen the state’s economy
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said Monday he would like to get the state’s economy reopened soon. McMaster delivered his comments at his coronavirus press conference.
The governor ordered the state’s schools to close on March 16, as a way to fight the spread of the coronavirus. Most businesses – those deemed non essenaial – including restaurants, have been ordered to halt, or scale down operations since.
McMaster said he is working on a revitalization plan for the state’s economy and it would be coming soon.
“We want to get all these businesses going back as soon as we can,” said McMaster.
McMaster also said the administration of President Donald Trump is working with the country’s governors and keeping the lines of communication open.
Trump is also signaling that he wants to reopen the country.
Trump said Monday his team “will soon finalize new and very important guidelines to give governors the information they need to start safely opening their states.”
Trump also said: “my administration’s plan, and corresponding guidelines, will give the American people the confidence they need to begin returning to normal life.”
