Girls On The Run, Saturday morning in Cayce, traffic alert

The Girls On The Run 5k is being held Saturday (April 30) in Cayce. It’s a run that features (mostly girls) school students.

From Lexington School District 2, students from B-C Grammar No. 1 and Pineview will be running.  Other Lexington 2 schools that have been in the GOTR program are: Wood Elementary, Congaree Elementary, Springdale Elementary and Taylor Elementary girls and boys have participated in the Run Hard program.

The run will start at 8:30 a.m. on Charleston Highway, in front of the Historic Columbia Speedway. The Charleston Highway will be closed going northbound in front of the Historic Columbia Speedway. The Charleston Highway will be open for travel during the run, but it’ll be one lane of travel both ways. Please see map for more details.

Expect high traffic on Charleston Highway  from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. The Northbound lane of Charleston Highway will be diverted from 7:45 a.m. until approximately  9 a.m. The run affects traffic on Glenn Street, Dunbar Road. The run goes to the Cayce Public Safety and City Hall area. The route then makes its way back to the Speedway off of Dunbar Road.

All participants are expected to be off the roads by 10 a.m. at the latest.
