Gervais Street Bridge Dinner cancelled due in part to “inflationary pressures”
The organizers of the Gervais Street Bridge Dinner issued a press release Wednesday announcing that this year’s Gervais Street Bridge Dinner has been cancelled. The release is included below:
It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the highly anticipated 2024 Gervais Street Bridge Dinner, originally scheduled for October 13.
The Gervais Street Bridge Dinner, an annual celebration known for bringing together our community to enjoy a unique dining experience with a scenic view, was set to be a highlight of this year’s local events calendar. The largest dinner atop a bridge, in arguably all of the United States, successfully synchronizes two municipalities, showing the generosity of the business community, and the finest of the restaurant and hospitality scene to produce a true one-of-a-kind event for attendees. It has been a marquee event of the Columbia Metropolitan area since 2015 and represents the heart of the Midlands.
We understand the disappointment this news may bring to our valued guests, sponsors, beneficiaries and community members. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors for their unwavering support and commitment. Your generosity and enthusiasm have been vital in bringing this unique experience to life, and we deeply appreciate your understanding during this time.
We remain hopeful that we will have the opportunity to celebrate together in the future and will keep you updated on any developments. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
