George Street, from Hendrix Street to the back entrance of Lexington Medical Center (Lexington) was closed at around 4:30 Monday afternoon, while Dominion Energy works in the area. Lexington Police units are on the site.

According to the LPD, the work will be ongoing for an extended closure and drivers are being asked to plan their commute for the evening accordingly.

Earlier: the Lexington Sheriff’s Department reported that the 400 block of Hendrix St., between Black Ave and George St., was shut down due to a semi-truck hitting power lines. Expect work in the area for an extended time. (LPD Photo)
