Gaston Police arrest man for catalytic converter theft
The Gaston Police have arrested a man for catalytic converter theft.
On Monday around 3 pm, an GPD officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a lane violation.
The driver, Danny Suggs, was found, police said, to be driving under suspension and in possession of non ferrous materials (or catalytic converters) without a permit. Suggs was arrested and charged with stealing them.
The Gaston Police Department noted in a release regarding Suggs’ arrest that it only takes thieves about 30 seconds to cut off the catalytic converters from your car, resulting in a costly repair bill. Try to park in well lit areas and report any suspicious persons (typically carrying large bags to carry the converters and tools) loitering around vehicles in parking lots or driveways.
