Have you noticed the full moon in the last few days? It has not only been big and bright when it rises in the evening; the moon is visible past sunrise. Here is a photo over Northside Middle School in West Columbia. There was also a thick frost covering the ground on the morning of Dec. 23. The winter solstice, shortest day of the year was Dec. 21. The winter solstice in one hemisphere coincides with the summer solstice in the other. Now the days will get longer heading toward spring.
