From cold-weather comfort food and rooftop hot toddies to live music and sweet confections, West Columbia welcomes the holiday season
The hospitality industry of West Columbia is in full holiday mode. From special beverages to tasty foods that provide comfort in the cold season, there’s something for you.
Black Rooster, in the Brookland Development, adjacent to West Columbia’s Riverwalk Park, invites you to enjoy nights on its rooftop bar, sipping mulled wine or a hot toddy. Stay toasty on the rooftop with heaters, hand warmers, and blankets. Enjoy the season with drinks and a view.
The rooftop opens at 4:30 p.m. and the main dining area opens at 5 p.m. Try the restaurant’s Pan Di Spagna al Cioccolato. It’s a decadent dessert chocolate sponge cake topped with a whipped white chocolate ganache, garnished with our handcrafted peppermint bark.
Black Rooster also has gift cards available for purchase. It’s the perfect gift for anyone this holiday season. Walk-ins and reservations are welcome.
WECO Bottle and Biergartin at 625 Meeting Street is offering a special holiday brew. The Christmas Cookie Ale is brewed as an homage to childhood memories of warm, fresh-baked cookies on cold winter evenings.
Always Original Bakery, at 500 Meeting Street, has several special holiday confections available, including the new sugar plum fairy dusted cookie for kids, said Owner George Grogan.
Savage Craft Ale Works at 425 Center Street invites you to celebrate the season with them. The brewery is decked out in holiday cheer and the craft beverages are flowing, said Manager Victoria Porter. You can also buy a pair of Savage Craft, Galaxy Banger brew socks. They’re the perfect stocking stuffer or gift.
Eggnog Latte, Peppermint Mocha, or the Sugar Plum Latte are some of the holiday flavors offered by Akera Sellers at BrickHouse Coffee at 729 Meeting Street.
The Cafe Strudel door front is adorned with custom live greenery from Jay White of The Warehouse, which is next door.
Cafe Strudel is also offering up its popular comfort food in the cooler weather. Try the restaurants Southern chicken and dumplings, Chicken Pesto Panini or Kielbasa Gnocchi Soup. Café Strudel also has beef noodle soup along with holiday coffees including Peace and Joe, Mistletoe Java, and Merry and Bright. Buy a bag as a gift for the coffee lover.
DeLucca’s Italian Grill on Sunset Boulevard reminds you to come by and grab a gift card for the stocking stuffer. The Italian restaurant has gift cards available in any amount you need.

A night of jazz, soul or funk live performances at Chayz Lounge is a Christmas gift that will rouse the recipient.

George Freeman Live – An Evening of Soul Jazz Grooves is scheduled at Chayz for Friday Dec. 20, and Letron Brantley & Friends Live – The Soul Jazz Experience performs at Chayz on Saturday, Dec. 21.
Chayz is closed Christmas day, but reopens on Thursday, Dec. 26, with Stephen Mitnaul Live – An Evening of Sax and Soul Grooves. Play That Band Presents A Night of Soul Jazz Grooves on Friday, Dec. 27.
