FREE Meeting Street Music Fest is Sept. 16 on West Columbia’s Meeting Street – A BIG Community Event

Mark your calendars for the Meeting Street Music Fest. It’s from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, on Meeting Street, in. West Columbia. It’s FREE.

It is an extraordinary celebration of music, featuring six high-quality bands. The Music Fest will also include a wide selection of food, refreshing beverages, and an opportunity for the community to come together to show what West Columbia is all about.

West Columbia City Councilman Joseph Dickey said he is excited about the Meeting Street Music Fest.

“It’s a unique event and a chance to show off the various genres of music in the heart of the City of West Columbia,” Dickey said. “We have so many music venues for live music. There’s Savage Craft Ale Works, Chayze Lounge, Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor, New Brookland Tavern, and Black Rooster has live music. The Music Fest is a big show and a chance to come out and see your neighbors. I know I’ll be there with my family.”

Meeting Street Music Fest is also an opportunity to show off West Columbia to out-of-town visitors, according to Anna Huffman, City of West Columbia Public Relations Director.

“We are advertising the Meeting Street Music Fest in several markets outside of West Columbia,” she said. Ads for the event are running in Charlotte, Charleston, Augusta, Savannah, and Myrtle Beach. The city is using A-Tax and H-Tax funds to advertise the festival.

What will spectators see at the Music Fest?

“The goal is to create a free live music event for the masses. There will be two stages on Meeting Street,” Huffman said. Each band brings something a little different. We have everything from Rhythm and Blues, to country, and a Billy Joel tribute band.”

The food at the Meeting Street Music Fest.

“We will have 10 food trucks offering an array of fare as well as what the local restaurants and establishments offer,” said Huffman. “There will also be beer and wine for purchase provided by Twist Bartending. Chayz Lounge will have a full bar offering, too.”

Meeting Street Music Fest Stage and Schedule

Main Stage
Meeting and Lucas. 626 Meeting Street.

The Reggie Sullivan Band
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Meeting and Lucas
Since forming in early 2012, The Reggie Sullivan Band has become one of the hottest bands in South Carolina. This variety/R&B band will make you rethink the capabilities of the upright bass. Their unique look and utilization of the upright bass as a lead instrument has led them to success. With Reggie Sullivan on bass and vocals, Zach Bingham on guitar, Evans Mcgill on guitar, and Geoff Shackley on drums the band is a winning combination.

Turnstiles
5:15 PM – 6:15 PM | Meeting and Lucas
If you consider the definition of “Tribute” as being an acknowledgment of respect and admiration, you can understand what has driven Turnstiles’ band leader Tony Monaco to form “Turnstiles”. As a young man, Tony became an inspired, lifelong fan of the Piano Man and he used that inspiration to grow as a pianist, vocalist, and songwriter. As a result, Billy’s style has been forever imprinted on his musical soul, much like that of Ray Charles and many others have been imprinted on that of Billy Joel.

Meli’sa Morgan, an R&B songstress who exploded onto the music scene in the late 80s, showcased her versatile voice through funky soul tracks like “Fool’s Paradise” and mesmerizing slow ballads like “Do Me Baby.” With hit songs like “Do You Still Love Me” and “Love Changes,” Meli’sa left an indelible mark on the industry. E.Z. Shakes
4:15 PM – 5:15 PM | Meeting and Shuler

E.Z. Shakes (a.k.a. Zach Seibert) rests securely among the giants of the singer-songwriter genre. Born with the birthright and marinated in the mud of the deep South, Shakes’ musical roots inch their way down and deep in the substratum of American folk music, which in his own way, he mixes up and serves with a splash of Country Western. Shakes’ writing is never tired or cliche in content. He offers up something fresh and honest, gritty and gutsy in an industry saturated in the synthetic.
