On March 22, there was a George Funeral Home and Cremation Center sign in front of the former Thompson Funeral Home location at 200 State Street in West Columbia.

The temporary sign read “Coming Soon” – George Historic West Columbia Chapel – Funeral Home and Cremation Center – Family owned and operated. That sign is no longer in front of the building. A sign that reads “For Lease By Owner” is now in front of the building.

A representative who answered at the number said “at this point” the building will not be used by George Funeral Home, but that could change. And he said the building is currently available for lease.
