Former Senator Nikki Setzler added to the Brookland-Cayce High School Alumni Wall of Fame, longtime teacher Beth Cleland inducted into the Educator Hall of Fame, Thursday
The Honorable Nikki Setzler was placed on the Brookland-Cayce High School Alumni Wall of Fame, Thursday night, and longtime Brookland-Cayce High School teacher Beth Cleland was inducted into the Educator Hall of Fame.
Setzler was elected to the South Carolina Senate in 1976. He held various leadership positions over the years, including chair of the Senate Education Committee. He left in 2024 as the longest-serving senator in South Carolina history.

Mrs. Cleland served over 28 years in education, teaching at Brookland-Cayce High School from 1982-1991 and 1994-2014. She was certified to teach AP Government and Economics and served as a coaching teacher. She was a longtime volleyball coach at Brookland-Cayce, finishing in 2006-2007 as 3A state champion runner-up, and was selected as a Volleyball Coach of the Year. She also coached softball for four years.
