SLED agents arrested Shekinah Shyann Sade Brown, 24, after she turned herself in Tuesday morning at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s headquarters.

“When I became aware of Ms. Brown’s alleged conduct related to fraudulent time sheets, I referred the matter to SLED for an independent criminal investigation,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “ There is an inherent trust that comes with working in the law enforcement profession. Everyone who works here is held to a high standard and must be held accountable to maintain our professionalism and the standing we have within our very supportive community.”

Brown, who worked as a chemist in the Sheriff’s Department’s laboratory, resigned October 2024, according to Koon. She was hired by the department in March 2023.

Brown, a Lexington resident, was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Tuesday morning. She has been released on a personal recognizance bond.
