Former Gray Quarterback Hunter Helms having his best spring at Clemson, draws praise from coach

Last week Clemson Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney had high praise for former Gray Collegiate Quarterback Hunter Helms, based on spring practice workouts.

“Hunter Helms has had his best spring,” Swinney said. “It’s been fun to watch him. He’s by far the best version of Hunter Helms we’ve seen. Has really gotten himself in really great shape, which has helped him mobility-wise.”

Swinney also said Helms, who is from West Columbia, “is moving a little better. He has done a good job. He is a guy you can depend on.”

Helms, a former walk-on, has been running with the second-team offense behind starting quarterback Cade Klubnik. Clemson’s spring game is scheduled for 1 p.m., this Saturday, April 15. Admission is free.
