Helms, from West Columbia, joined the Clemson football team in 2020.

Helms, the Tigers’ No. 2 QB, got into the game versus North Carolina, on the day he ran down the hill for the last time at Death Valley. He has played in other games this year, too.

Helms said his time at Gray helped prepare him for his time at Clemson. He said he was pushed by the Gray coaches and it helped make him become a better player as he developed his athletic and leadership skills.
