Former Cayce Police Officer Alan Ware, a K9 Specialist wit the Richland County Sheriff’s Department the Setting the Barr Award Tuesday, given in memory of Cayce PD Corporal Roy “Drew” Barr. Barr was shot and killed on duty with the Cayce Police Department on April 24, 2022. Ware, who was a friend of Barr’s, was recognized for his outstanding dedication and service in keeping the community safe.

Barr’s parents were on hand for the Chamber’s August Business Breakfast at Stone river in west Columbia. Ware said Barr was an immediate friend to him and made him feel welcome at the Cayce Police Department.
