Former Brookland-Cayce and WVU baseball star Skylar King drafted by the Boston Red Sox

West Virginia University center fielder Skylar King was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 15th round (448th overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft. King played baseball and football at Brookland-Cayce High School.

King was at West Virginia for three seasons and played in 134 total games as a Mountaineer in 2025 he started 59 games. He had .291 batting average with 32 RBIs and a .415 on-base percentage. King also had 22 base steals, including 13 in 2025.

King has a year of eligibility left, so he could opt to not sign with the Red Sox and come back to school to try and improve his draft status.
