Flood warning issued for parts of the Congaree River

A flood warning has been issued for parts of the Congaree River, according to the National Weather Service – Columbia.

The flood warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Thursday. Lexington, Richland and Calhoun counties are included in the flood warning, because of substantial rainfall in December.

In December more than nine inches of rain was recorded at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Close to 2 inches of rain (1.7 inches) has been recorded in the first week of January

Rain is also expected Tuesday, according to forecasts. Flooding is expected on the Broad and Saluda rivers, too.
