There has been a lot of rain in the last few days. The upper parts of the Broad and Saluda Rivers have also gotten lots of rainfall. That river water is now flowing down to the Congaree River and could affect the Cayce and West Columbia Riverwalks.

A Flood Warning is in effect until Friday, 2 AM: Source: U.S. National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
The Congaree River At Carolina Eastman.
* until late Thursday night…Or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 5 AM Wednesday the stage was 115.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 115.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast…The river will continue to fall…Going below flood
stage late tonight.
* At 115.0 feet…Flooding occurs in low lying areas of the Carolina
Eastman Facility and at the Congaree National Park.
These river forecasts may change depending on additional rainfall amounts and upstream dam operations.

A Tuesday post from Congaree National Park reads  “The Congaree River is currently at 15.31 ft high and rising; Cedar Creek is at 7.07 ft high and rising. Flooding conditions are present in the park. Flooding will likely affect all of the trails in the Congaree Floodplain. Backcountry camping and paddling are not recommended at this time.”
