The Lexington County Fire Service responded to a fire at a chicken-breeding facility in the 2300 block of Calks Ferry Road, Friday.

Upon arrival firefighting crews reported heavy fire engulfing the structure. In all 14 units and 26 crew members were on the scene.

Lexington County Public Works was called in to assist with removing materials to allow firefighters access to the fire to extinguish it. Lexington EMS was on standby and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control.
