Filing date for West Columbia City Council Seat 3 is set, see which precincts are included

A Special Election for the City of West Columbia’s Council District Three seat will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Any person wishing to vote in this election must register no later than Sunday, December 19, 2022. Voter registration by mail forms will be accepted if postmarked by Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

The following offices shall be included in this Election:

Candidate Filing Period:
Filing Opens: 8:00 a.m. November 21, 2022
Filing Closes: 5:00 p.m. December 2, 2022

Candidates must complete a Statement of Candidacy when filing. A Statement of Economic Interest form and Candidate Campaign Disclosure must be completed ONLINE. For more information contact the State Ethics Commission. This is a Non-Partisan Election and No-Party Affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.

Filing Fee:  $100 – Check, Money Order, or Cashier Checks will be accepted. No Cash can be accepted.

The Early Voting period for this Election begins on Tuesday, January 3, 2022, and ends on Friday, January 13, 2023. The Early Voting center will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday) at the Lexington County Registration & Election Office – 605 W. Main Street, Ste C, Lexington SC 29072.

Voters will be asked to provide one of the following Photo IDs when voting in person.

  • S.C. Driver’s License/Includes standard license and REAL ID/Includes SC Concealed Weapons Permit
  • S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo/Federal Military ID/Includes all Department of Defense Photo IDs and Veterans Affairs Benefits Card
  • U.S. Passport/Includes US Passport ID Card

At 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2022, the County Board of Voter Registration and Elections will begin its examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes at the Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office, 605 W. Main Street, Suite C, Lexington, SC 29072.

At 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, the County Board of Canvassers will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots cast in this election. This hearing will be held at the Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office, 605 W. Main Street, Suite C, Lexington, SC 29072.

The following polls shall open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day:
