Father’s Day is Sunday, treat your Dad at a fine West Columbia restaurant

Sunday, June 21, is Father’s Day. Fathers Day became nationally recognized in 1972. However, the nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington.

If you’re looking for something special,  there are some dining hot spots in West Columbia where you can go to treat Dad.  

Grecian Gardens
Grecian Gardens on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia has been providing a warm welcome for more than 30 years.

At Grecian Gardens the customers are like family and the restaurant is like a tradition on special occasions.

Many children bring their fathers to Grecian Gardens on Father’s Day to honor them while sharing the day at the restaurant. Some Father’s Day favorites on the menu are turkey and gravy, lightly battered fried flounder and of course Greek salad. and the restaurant’s most popular dish is roasted chicken with Greek potatoes. 

Cafe Strudel – West Columbia
Hosting one of the busiest Sunday brunch crowds in the region is Cafe Strudel on West Columbia’s State Street.

People love the brunch and Cafe Strudel will get its share of Father’s Day with lots of traffic every Sunday. Just drive by Cafe Strudel and see the number of people who line up to get in and experience some of the restaurant’s popular brunch and lunch dishes. The hangover hash browns, the Hawaiian pineapple French toast, eggs Benedict are some of the most-ordered items.

While brunch or lunch will be a popular event Sunday, you may want to take Dad out on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. If so there is an option.

Black Rooster
Overlooking the Congaree River, with a view of the Columbia skyline, Black Rooster is an Italian restaurant owned by Chef Kristian Niemi. it offers a menu filled with Southern-inspired Italian dishes, it’s the perfect place to take your Dad to unwind and savor a delightful meal.

But you’ll have to go on Friday or Saturday, because Black Rooster is not open on Sunday.

Black Rooster’s diverse menu caters to all. You can order American-Italian classics like Chicken Parmigiana or an authentic Ragu di Bolognese. You can also get a local take on a regional Italian dish. Black Rooster offers a relaxed setting with an intimate patio or a gorgeous rooftop in addition to the art-filled dining room.

Kristian said reservations are not required for Black Rooster’s bar, patio or rooftop.

DeLucca’s Italian Grill
Another Thursday, Friday or Saturday (closed on Sunday) restaurant favorite for Dad is DeLucca’s Italian Grill at 1720 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia.
It offers  a laid-back and intimate setting  and serves everything from fresh Veal and Calzones to Salmon to hand tossed NY Style Pizza. Everything is made in house including fresh bread baked daily and pizza dough batches mixed every morning.

From brunch to lunch, or dinner, you will be able to dine for Father’s Day. A scenic site beside the river or an historic site on State Street, and something in between, you can find it in West Columbia.
