Employee at a Lexington County business is shot after an exchange with a customer
A Wagener man is accused of shooting an employee at a Lexington County business Thursday morning.
Howard Fogle Jr., 73, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to an arrest warrant.
“Based on the interviews detectives conducted, they’ve determined Fogle went to a business on Pond Branch Road to ask about the turnaround time on a job the business was handling for him,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “After some back and forth between Fogle and an employee, he pulled a pistol and fired at the employee.”
The employee was struck multiple times and transported to the hospital, according to Koon. His medical team told investigators he will recover from the gunshot wounds.
“Because of the service agreement between Fogle and the business, and the entire incident being on security cam, we immediately knew who he was,” Koon said. “He drove away from the business after the shooting and went back to his home in Wagener.”
Aiken County deputies and Wagener police officers assisted in locating Fogle and then arrested him at his home, according to Koon.
“Fogle was transferred to our custody a short time thereafter and he’s being held in the Lexington County Detention Center,” Koon said.
