In May, a gas leak caused Cougar Drive, the main road to the school, to be closed. Closing the road resulted in the use of the emergency pass that runs through Fred Anderson Toyota, onto Sunset Boulevard.

The paving of an emergency access road at Northside Middle School in West Columbia, is complete. The road was paved over the summer, and will be available for the soon-to-begin school year.
