Election Day is Tuesday, Lexington 2 School Board and 1-Cent Tax for Roads are on the ballot with Governor and State Education Superintendent

Election Day is Tuesday (Nov. 8) but many votes have already been cast.

More than 440,000 South Carolina voters have cast their votes early in the 2022 Midterm election. Around 50,000 absentee ballots have been returned to the SC election Commission, too. There are 3.3 million registered voters in South Carolina. Early voting ended Saturday. In-person voting at your assigned precinct is Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

In South Carolina the governor, South Carolina school superintendent and other statewide offices are on the ballot, including State Treasurer Curtis Loftis. Sarah Work of the Alliance Party is challenging Loftis. US Rep. Joe Wilson (R) is on the ballot. Judd Larkins (D) is opposing Wilson. In West Columbia State House Rep. Micah Caskey (R) is up for re-election, but he has no opposition.

Four candidates are running for three seats on the Lexington 2 School Board. The school board is non-partisan.

The candidates are: incumbents Christina Rucker and Linda Wooten. Also running are: Kevin Key, a former Lexington Two School Board member and Chuck Hightower, who ran for the Lexington Two School Board two years ago. Current Lexington Two Board Member Bud Summers is not running for re-election.

Lexington Two schools serve the communities of Cayce, West Columbia, Pine Ridge, South Congaree and Springdale. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Election Day. Top: Linda Wooten and Christina Rucker. Bottom: Chuck Hightower and Kevin Key.

Also on the ballot Tuesday is a 1-cent sales tax to repair roads in Lexington County and its municipalities.
