Driver dies after June 3 Lexington County crash that sent 2 passengers to the hospital

One person died and two others were injured after a car crashed into some trees in Lexington County, according to said Lance Cpl. William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol. The single-vehicle collision occurred on June 3, but the death was reported by the Highway Patrol Monday.

According to Bennett, a 1998 Volvo sedan was driving north on Hartley Quarter Road at approximately 7 p.m. on June 3. The vehicle ran off the left side of the road near the intersection with Creek Ranch Road. The crash happened in the Pelion area, not far from U.S. 178. The car crashed into multiple trees, according to Bennett.

There were three people in the car, and all of them were taken to a Richland County hospital, said Bennett. The driver later died at the hospital. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not identified the driver yet.
