Dr. Brenda Hafner plans to to step down from her job a Lexington 2 Superintendent at the end of the school year. Hafner sent an email to District 2 employees Friday. The contents of the email are below:
The Thanksgiving holiday is about friends and family, and it is with this in mind that I share some important news with you today.

Last night, with the Board of Trustees’ approval, I announced to the Lexington Two executive leadership team my plans to retire at the end of this school year, June 30, 2026.
I have always put my whole self into everything I do, and that includes my job. However, I am now facing challenges where my family must take priority. I am fortunate that I am at a point in my career where I have the opportunity to retire as an option.
This retirement decision has been incredibly difficult. I have had many wonderful opportunities and experiences over my nearly 30 years in education, and I would dare say the role of Lexington Two Superintendent is at the top of that list. This community is so special, with great school and district leadership, great teachers and staff, and amazing students who are making solid strides in many ways.
While I will not retire until the end of this current school year, I know there will be times when I need to be away from the district for my family. During these periods, the Board of Trustees has asked Dr. Angela Cooper, Chief of Human Resources, to temporarily serve as “Superintendent Designee,” working with Cabinet members and our greater Executive Leadership Team on whatever the needs may be at the time.
In this time of Thanksgiving, I am grateful for all of you and the caring heart you bring to our students and community. I wish you a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving break, surrounded by loved ones.
Warmly,
Dr. Brenda Hafner
Superintendent
